Audiotape versions of the Vicky Bliss novels are available. I am told that Barbara Rosenblat, the narrator, is superb, and no one should miss her singing "You're a Detour on the Highway to Heaven" as Schmidt, John, AND Vicky. They are available through recordedbooks.com, as well as other fine retailers, I'm sure. (This page and its webmistress do not endorse any one retailer over another.) To find available titles, click on the URL, then do an author search for Elizabeth Peters.

If you like these, here are others by Elizabeth Peters. Her mystery characters inhabit the same universe - characters from one series sometimes show up in novels from the other series. There is also, according to the author herself, a familial link of some sort between the Amelia-Peabody-series characters and the Vicky-Bliss-series characters, a source of much speculation. For more on this, see the Vicky Bliss Trivia Page. Ms. Peters is also known as Barbara Michaels, under which nom-de-plume she writes romantic suspense. I have never read any of these, and so cannot give you an informed opinion. She also writes non-fiction, mainly on the subject of Egyptology, under her real name of Barbara Mertz. She says she's not really prolific; she's just been writing for a very long time. So she has; nearly 30 years, and be glad of it! I've marked my personal favorites with a "***". (A ...~ indicates that I've read it; a "/" indicates I especially disliked it for one reason or another, said reason being indicated following the symbol.)

  Amelia Peabody (Egyptologist)

(All right, so I know *** is to mark favorites, but the book that
brings three generations of Emersons together deserves at least
one more

If you like this series:

Then you may enjoy the other books listed above.

You may also enjoy Carole Nelson Douglas' Irene Adler mysteries (similar to the Amelia books: set in Victorian times) or her Midnight Louie mysteries (similar to the Vicky Bliss: set in modern-day Las Vegas). Also Tamar Myers' Den of Antiquity and Magdalena Yoder mystery series, while not being similar in content, are laugh-out-loud funny.
